Don’t miss out on Heiva Miami’s free dance classes and the opportunity to explore the art of Polynesian dancing. Learn to Hula Dance and participate in the Tamure Marathon (Tahitian dance) which will have your hearts beating and your bodies moving to the island rhythms. Participants must register separately.
Hula
Hula is a traditional Hawaiian dance that combines graceful hand gestures, rhythmic footwork, and expressive storytelling. Accompanied by chants or songs, hula conveys stories emotions, and the natural beauty and history of Hawaii. Registered dancers will learn the Hawaiian art of hula which connects Hawaiians to their heritage.


Tamure (‘Ori Tahiti)
Tamure, also known as ‘Ori Tahiti, is a traditional Tahitian dance that is vibrant, expressive, and deeply rooted in Polynesian culture. Female dancers (vahine) are celebrated for their graceful yet powerful hip shakes, while male dancers (tāne) showcase strong, dynamic movements, and stomps. Registered dancers will dance to live Tahitian drumbeats facilitated by professional dance instructors.


Emilia Garth will conduct the hula class and host a special performance. Emilia is a professional singer-songwriter and founder of Kanikapila Miami. She bridges generational and cultural differences through her music and creativity-activating workshops. Follow her online @Emilia_Garth
